British Couple Jailed . . . For Kissing In Public

I just saw this on Reuters… a British couple visiting Dubai has been thrown in jail because a woman claimed that her child saw them kissing in public.

Now I get it that they’ve got some strict decency laws but really, can’t their court even consider the possibility that the child who allegedly witnessed this could simply be mistaken?  Or for that matter, how about the mother, could she be mistaken?

Public decency is one thing and I’m all for it.  However I also think that the Dubai government is going overboard by about thirty thousand miles.

So if you’re planning a trip to Dubai with your special someone, either plan to be VERY careful about who sees you kissing or think strongly about going someplace else.
