This is yet another censorship move to watch. Once again, the threat of terrorism is being used as an excuse to attempt to justify spying and censoring people’s communications whether that communication is by phone, email, snail mail, blog or whatever.

This is also yet another reason for everyone to use encryption and privacy tools regardless of what they’re doing. Remember, While privacy is a right, it is also something that you must activly maintain otherwise it will vanish before you realize it.

Federal minister and GdP call for more stringent monitoring of Web content The Federal Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Schäuble and the German police trade union (GdP) are pressing for a more intense monitoring of Internet communications. The object, they say, is to nip terror plots hatched online and inflammatory propaganda in the bud.
