I wonder if it’s really possible to make a significant ammount of money
in online shopping "cash back" programs. The idea is that you join a
program and then shop at their online stores and buy your apple
ipods and such then they give you cash back for your purchases.

"Ebates" is one of these programs. They earn commissions on sales they
make through their online stores (their web site says they’ve got over
eight hundred of them.) where you earn up to 25% cash back on your
purchases.

Their web site says that they do it by not keeping the commission they
earn and passing it on to the customers. The also say that they don’t
mark up the prices or the shipping. What I don’t get is that after all
that, I don’t see where they’re making a profit and I know they’re not
doing it for free.
