White House Considers War Overseer

This just plain sounds fishy to me. There is no reason at all to name a
"War Overseer" of any kind simply because we already have one. The
position is called "Secretary of Defense". The idea of creating yet
another position that only reports to the president smells like rotten
fish.

House Considers War Overseer

(AP)– The White House is considering naming a high-powered
official to oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and report
directly to President Bush and National Security Adviser Stephen
Hadley.

The goal would be to improve the coordination of military and
civilian efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan by different parts of the
government.
