Release of ‘Manhunt 2′ Game Suspended

Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO) said Thursday it was temporarily suspending the release of the violent title “Manhunt 2″ because of an ongoing ratings controversy in the United States and a ban in Britain and Ireland.

This can’t be anything but good. It’s about time people started recognizing the potential of these ultra-violent games that glorify murder as a way to win a game.

It’s reasonable for some games to have a certain level of violence in them but this Manhunt 2 thing, along with the Grand Theft Auto games created by Rockstar games have entirely too much. They have crossed the line of in context, blast-the-monsters kind of violence into a virtual reality bloodbath in which people are attacked, maimed and killed simply for the thrill of doing it.

In my last entry I quoted a scripture that also fits this situation:

Matthew 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

Iniquity is abounding in more ways than one. Not only is it a worldwide problem in terms of all the evil things people and nations do to one another, but it’s infecting the hearts and minds of many. Often using things like GTA or Manhunt
