China is in the news once again… <churchlady voice>”Well isn’t that special”</churchlady voice>

Seriously though, it’s really getting to be something of a pattern… China gets in the news and again it’s got to do with something negative going on in China. Only now they want to blame Mattel…

CHINESE EXEC: MATTEL AT FAULT FOR RECALL

Chinese manufacturers and American toy giant Mattel Inc. are both responsible for
recent recalls of millions of lead-tainted toys worldwide, a Chinese official said in
an interview.

While I’ll agree that Mattel has a certain level of responsibility in terms of their own quality control.. checking out purchases and so on, it doesn’t excuse the Chinese manufacturer for using lead based paint on toys.. something that the rest of the world has had the sense to stop doing decades ago.
