Iraq Body Count Running at Double Pace

BAGHDAD (AP) - This year’s U.S. troop buildup has succeeded in bringing violence in Baghdad down from peak levels, but the death toll from sectarian attacks around the country is running nearly double the pace from a year ago.

…So what they’re saying here is that the violence in Baghdad is down because of the troop surge, but the rest of the country is twice as bad off as it was last year?

The problem is that there’s so many groups, each with their own mission and each determined to be the ones in charge of it all.

Something about this whole thing needs to be re-thought.
