Now this is something that I didn’t expect. When I first saw reports that the Taliban were negotiating the release of those hostages I didn’t expect any more positive results from that than I would from Hamas. Yet they’ve actually surprised a lot of people by keeping their word and the agreement by letting the hostages go.

TALIBAN FREES 12 SOUTH KOREAN HOSTAGES

A dozen South Korean hostages were turned over to the Red Cross in Afghanistan
today, as part of a deal reached Tuesday with the South Korean government. Seven
members of the Christian church group, abducted on July 19, remain in captivity.

On the other hand, they weren’t dealing with hostages from the US or US allies either were they? I think that if that had been the case then the hostages probably wouldn’t have been released so quickly (if at all).
