Have you noticed that in the last dozen years or so it's become more and more of a tradition that a politician isn't considered to be officially running for president until they have announced that fact to a comedian on a talk show.
THOMPSON SAYS HE'S OFFICIALLY IN THE RACE
Fred Thompson - veteran actor, former Republican senator - launched his bid for the
presidency Hollywood-style. "I'm running for president of the United States," Thompson
told Jay Leno in a taped appearance on NBC's "Tonight Show" airing Wednesday.
Perhaps this means we could get a clue about who is serious by watching to see which politician goes out of their way to get Tonight Show tickets.
