I’d really like to know why people seem to be surprised that nuclear weapons have been flown over the U.S. To me it’s obvious… They needed to be moved from one place to another. Of course, I get that they shouldn’t have been armed but I wasn’t aware that it was illegal or against military regs to do so.
NUKE-ARMED B-52 MISTAKENLY FLOWN OVER U.S.
A B-52 bomber was mistakenly loaded with six nuclear warheads during a flight from
North Dakota to Louisiana. Pentagon officials say the bomber carried advanced cruise
missiles as part of a Defense Department program to retire 400 of the missiles.
I just did a quick lookup and found this article on Wikipedia about the development and history of Nuclear Weapons. I don’t know how accurate it is but it seemed relevant.
