Shell is now using a biometric payment system called ‘Pay By Touch‘. It’s the latest thing in making things easy, customers have only to touch a scanner on the pump and go. The system matches the fingerprints to the user’s account and the payment is electronically debited from their checking or credit card accounts.

I’ve come to the conclusion that one of the things that’s going to make things easier for the Totalitarian world government of the Last Days is the simple laziness of most people. They’re so hungry for faster, more convenient ways to do things, especially handle money transactions, that they’re willing to go along with all manner of hare brained schemes to save themselves a few seconds paying for gas.

What’s wrong with taking five seconds to swipe a prepaid debit card? That’s not fast enough? Well I’ll tell you that this biometric fingerprint thingy isn’t going to be any faster. In fact I wouldn’t doubt for a second that it’s going to be full of problems and end up being more trouble than it’s worth.
