After Google slapped me, I actually banned their bot from my website for about two weeks. Some people said I am crazy other thought I did a heroic act. Personally I think it was a mistake. However, I have a feeling that Google was confused about my blog because I have 7000+ inbound links, some of them from PR6 blogs. I think few top bloggers could get together and do the same, it can potentially screw Google results badly. But I think all the top bloggers are just bunch of pussies to do something like that. I admire you for what you are doing!

Too bad you didn't join.

It's not about being able to leave a url when commenting on a Blogger blog. In fact, leaving comments on a blogger hosted blog is a waste of time.. so is Blogger's comment system. I'd much rather deal with Wordpress. At least it was designed by somebody with a brain.

What the thing is about is Google deciding to trash people's page rank because they have advertising that competes with adsense.

please, don't be ridiculous. people aren't going to do all that just to comment on a blog. I mean most will go as far as a captcha, but no farther.

Poor deluded idiot you must be. Thinking that OpenID is any better. They should integrate a solution that uses the PGP web of trust, i.e. allow urls with comments if the post is PGP signed with a key that has at least one signature on it that brings it into the web of trust. and before you say it, it only SOUNDS complicated. it's painfully easy in practice.

I almost joined this group when they removed the ability for non-Bloggers to leave their URLs when commenting on my blog. But now they are allowing OpenIDs and I feel a little better towards them.
