Not too long ago I discovered a new plugin that I’ve really come to like called “MinimizeToTray”. It’s available both the for the Thunderbird email client and for Firefox web browser.

What it does is simply that it allows Firefox / Thunderbird to appear as an icon in the system tray next to the clock when you minimize them instead of taking up space on your taskbar. This makes perfect sense to me, because when I minimize the browser or email client, it’s because I don’t need them at the moment.

Besides which, I can’t begin to count the times that I’ve clicked on the wrong window in the taskbar and had to wait to re-minimize it and get the one that I really wanted. Having them in the systray keeps them available, yet out of the way.

I like this option. I do hate cluttering my taskbar. It would be ideal if you could select which windows you wanted to hang out on the taskbar and which ones you wanted hidden on the side.

I am all about plug-ins that make life easier, thanks for sharing!
