David Blaine's Death Wish

Welcome back!

David Blaine has completed yet another one of his "every-one-is-more-dangerous-than-the-last-one" stunts.. this time hanging upside down by his ankles for 60 hours. My opinion is that what he really wants is to find a way to die in front of a lot of people, preferably on live television.

If he keeps up his trend, I don't doubt that he's going to somehow manage to find a way to pull it off. It's odd really, there was a time when somebody doing stuff like this would end up locked away in a facility with a 16 foot high barbed wire fence installation, yet today Blaine and people like him pull stunts like this and end up managing to earn hideous amounts of money for it.

I honestly have a hard time understanding the whole thing. Frankly I don't know what's more disturbing, the fact that he pulls stunts like this that look to me like he's trying to die, or the fact that there are millions who would be more than happy to watch him do it.

I think it’s more of a test of human endurance which he seems obsessed with. I think the 40 days and nights in a box above London was worse though. And just as random.

a test perhaps, but if so it’s a test without a point. I think it’s more some kind of call for attention and perhaps help.

I dont get the whole David Blane thing, i find it utterly boring… So what if he can meditate for a few hour… days at a time. woopy do. Has no one els noticed that he is socially inept? I think a bigger challenge for him would be to go to a heaving night club, get drunk, have a dance. And engage with people as though he were a normal human being.

Oh, it’s boring alright. As for acting like a normal human being. I think he’s proved that’s not what he is. He might be many things, but I seriously doubt that “normal” is one of them.
