It’s about time some legislation was put together to protect people’s
privacy, the privacy of their data and help prevent and prosecute
identity theft. This Slashdot posting refers to a posting about
the privacy bill
called the
Personal Data Privacy and Security Act

monstrosity that does more harm than good. I think we’ve got entirely
enough of those already.

Senate
Introduces Strong Privacy Bill

amigoro writes "US Senators introduced a bill that better protects
the privacy of citizens’ personal information in the face of data
security breaches across the country. Key features of the bipartisan
legislation include increasing criminal penalties for identity theft
involving electronic personal data and making it a crime to
intentionally or willfully conceal a security breach involving
personal data."
