A Peculiar Blog

She’s at it again.  The would-be Mrs. Helpful that is.  She’s decided that Mr. Helpful needs to remodel his house and she’s gone ahead and gotten started on the project.

I found out about this latest move when I overheard her talking about it at the Nutjob Hills Diner.  No I wasn’t snooping, she was at the next table over and she’s not exactly what you’d call a quiet talker, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, she hasn’t gone so far as to give the go-ahead for the work to start but what she has done is spend a bunch of time (and money I’m sure) in doing a lot of planning and even buying the stuff that’s going to be needed for this job.

Of course, Mr. Helpful is out of town again (still doing his best to avoid her like the plague) and when I called him he hadn’t heard the first word about this latest project.

What’s odd is that he didn’t get as upset about this as I expected him to.  Instead he’s actually toying with the idea of letting her go ahead with the project.  He was talking about how there’s a bunch of things that need to be repaired and some other things that he’s been meaning to do like install a swimming pool safety net, add a basketball court to his driveway, get the place set up with winter replacements for the flower beds and completely replace the kitchen… and a whole lot more.

In listening to this I couldn’t help wondering if she’s actually starting to get to him.  Why else would he be seriously considering allowing her to do a total makover on his home?  I mean he’s got to realize that in doing this she’s gonna make it into her idea of a great place for the two of them to live, complete with his and hers everything.

I’m not even sure I want to think about what might be next.
