Let’s Try This Again

In a recent post I wrote about something of an adventure I had using the Orbiter 2006 space flight simulator.

I had set off from low Earth Orbit aboard the Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey on a flight to Jupiter.  The trip, while technically successful because I did finally arrive in Jupiter orbit, was a spectacularly colossal failure because it took eight years and three months of simulation time to get there.

I’ve decided that I’m going to try again.  This time I am going to dramatize it just a bit by posting excerpts from the captains log.

This way I don’t have to do the entire simulation in one four or five hour sitting, instead running it when I’m not occupied with other things.

It should be an interesting trip.  A trip that I fully expect to take considerably less than a little over eight years.

  3. I should also point out that I was not looking for a flight simulator.
