bid4prizes.com is an interesting variation on the traditional auction
site. Like ebay, you’re bidding on things that you want to win. The
difference is that with bid4prizes
you’re trying to get the lowest unique bid on an item. Their FAQ gives
an example where you could theoretically win a $2,000 HDTV for seventy
five cents…. IF you were the only one to bid exactly 75 cents and all
the lower bids were not unique..

The only bids that qualify are the one’s that nobody else enters. All
bid amounts with more than one person using them are disqualified. For
example you wouldn’t want to bid a penny because half a zillion others
would have bid a penny also. You know, something like this could get
interesting if there was a bunch of state of the art PC’s available.
