You know you’re living in a last days type age when something like this happens.  It also proves that entirely too many people don’t bother to think, they just react.

Police in Austin, Texas, say a crowd attacked and killed a passenger in a vehicle
that had struck and injured a child. The little girl, 3 or 4 years old, was taken to a
hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A car pulls into an appartment complex parking lot and hit a 2 year old child.  It’s a horror story of it’s own I know, but the thing is the child’s injuries were “non-life threatening”.  He was hurt, but he wasn’t killed.  Unfortunate as all get out, but at least that part will probably turn out ok.  Not so for a passenger in the car.

The driver got out of the car to check on the child.  When he did he was confronted by a group of angry people.  When this group of angry people attacked the driver a passenger got out to protect him.  The driver got away, but the passenger was beaten to death by the angry mob.

It’s easy to understand the anger and pain involved here, but there is no excuse at all for this bunch of people to allow themselves to become a bunch of animals.  At the very most it would have been reasonable to hold the driver until the police could arrive.

Of course the police haven’t got much to go on.  You know the story… “nobody saw anything”.  Yeah, right.

Y’know, I understand that the driver has to be held accountable for hitting the child.  That’s a given.  But when an angry mob beats a man to death THEY are just as guilty as the driver.  In fact more so, the driver hit the child, but the child will live (regardless of what the ‘non life threatening’ injuries were).  The angry mob KILLED a man.

Matthew 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

Truer words were never spoken.
