In today’s world it’s not much of a surprize anymore when you hear about this or that scandal or people getting involved with assorted sexual goings on… not to mention how many teenage girls turn up pregnant these days.  It almost doesn’t get reaction anymore when these things happen.  They’ve become that commonplace.

It’s actually kinda sad, yet at the same time very refreshing to see a story in the news about somebody standing up for purity and decency for a change.

She wore a ring that is engraved with the a reference to 1 Thessalonians 4:3

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

She wore the ring because she is a member of a group called Silver Ring Thing, which promotes abstinence among young people.  Which is, by the way, the BEST way to prevent unwanted pregnacies, teen pregnancies and the spread of STDs of any flavor.

“Purity ring” schoolgirl goes to High Court

LONDON (Reuters) – A teenage schoolgirl will appeal to the High Court on Friday to overturn a ban on her wearing a “purity ring” at school to symbolize her decision to abstain from sex before marriage.

“It is really important to me because in the Bible it says we should do this,” she told BBC radio. “Muslims are allowed to wear headscarves and other faiths can wear bangles and other types of jewellery. It feels like Christians are being discriminated against.”

It’s becoming more and more obvious anymore that what she says about Christians being discriminated against is true.  People of just about any faith or belief system you care to name have been very busy in the last decade or two making sure that they get their religious freedom to practice and preach their faith as they see fit.  Even the athiests get to practice and preach THEIR religion.

But when it comes to Christians doing the same thing, that’s when you start seeing groups like the aclu foaming at the mouth because some Christian had the absolute gall to practice their faith and do something like pray, or (gasp!) talk about Jesus.

(which we Christians are commanded to do, it’s not an option:

Matthew 28:18-20, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
