Sharp Reaction to G.O.P. Plan on Gas Rebate
By CARL HULSE and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

The Senate Republican plan to mail $100 checks to voters to ease the burden of high gas prices is eliciting more scorn than gratitude.

…and why shouldn’t it earn scorn.. a $100.00 check doesn’t cut any meaningful slack in the price of fuel. Especially since at the current prices that check is only going to be good for two or possibly three tanks of gas depending on your vehicle’s mileage and driving needs. measured against a year’s worth of price gouging that hundred bucks is no less than an insult and a waste of time.

I know the government thinks we’re stupid but please, We’re NOT the total idiots they like to think we are.

Their time would be much better spent ordering the price of gasoline frozen at $1.50 US per gallon while auditors tear their bookeeping apart.  I bet that would show that the oil prices (and by extension the gas prices) have NO reason to be so high other than corporate greed, the lust for power and a complete disregard for the worldwide hardship this has caused.
