This ought to do a lot toward fueling the fires of those who want to see our troops pulled out of Iraq.  Despite the fact that the statement was conditional on the Iraqi security situation improving and absolutely no hint of a timetable was given.

BUSH ENVISIONS POSSIBLE TROOP CUTBACKS

President Bush made a surprise stop in Iraq, using the war zone as a backdrop to argue
his case that his troop surge is bringing stability to the nation. He said some troops
might be brought home if security improves, but gave no timetable.

Of course the troops will eventually come home, but who decides when Iraq is stable enough and security is at a good enough level to start bringing our people home?  What if they’re wrong?
