A while back I got a webcam. No big shakes, just a basic camera that connects via a USB port.  It can take some pretty good still shots given enough light but unlike digital cameras it’s tied to it’s USB connection and the cord is only about four feet long so there isn’t much carting it around to better locations.  It can also be used to make movies, but the thing there is that the best I’ve been able to get out of it is fifteen frames per second, which is ok as long as the subject doesnt’ move fast at all… if they do, poof.. instant blur as the vanish completely.  Thing is, people use things like this all the time to make much better movies than 15fps… It’s got to be in the software.
