This has got to be one of the most sickening stories I’ve read in a long time.  In spite of that, I’m going to suggest that readers take a moment to read the story.

A high school senior and another teenager were charged in the slaying and mutilation
of an adult acquaintance, whose burned torso was found last week, and severed head
discovered this weekend in a local river.

When that prosecutor said what he did about this kind of thing raising a whole lot of questions about how people can decide to do something like this.  The answer is that it is because of the evil that is loose in this world.  Evil that while it does not have a right to be loose, is anyway because people who should know better have been allowing it more and more freedom over the years.

This is the kind of thing that results from a society that has made a big, legal point of kicking God out of first the schools, then so many other parts of our society.

This is the kind of event that makes people shake their heads and ask “How could God Allow such things?”  He allows it because, as a country, we’ve told him to get out.  How should we then be shocked and dismayed at the injustice and flat out horror that comes upon us as a result?  When we tell The One who keeps us safe to go away, how can we be surprised at what happens once we no longer have His protection?

Yes, God wants all to be saved.  He wants all to be safe from evil.  Yet He has given that decision to US.  WE get to decide if He is allowed to help us or not.  Yes, the price is high, He wants us to lay down our will and do His.

And yeah, even then there’s still a load of nasty things that happen all the time, even to those few who DO invite Him into their lives and exchange their will for His.

You can have God on your side.  All you need is to accept Jesus as Lord.  Admit that you are a sinner and that you cannot meet His standard of perfection on your own merit.  Accept that He died on the cross in your place and accept the forgiveness that He went through death, burial and resurrection to give you.

From that point you need to learn what His will is which you can only do in prayer and study of the scripture.  Get together with Bible believing Christians who can help you study the depths of His Word.
