65 MPG Ford Not To Be Sold In US

The rolling and screaming BS that the “Big Oil” companies and OPEC have been putting us through for the last several years has taken away something from our culture. As most (if not all) Americans are thoroughly familiar with our great love affair with the car.

It’s no surprise to anyone I think that the economy is going from highs to lows and back again almost as if it had overdosed on diet pills or something.

News on the censorship front is that the Thai government tried to shut down some 400 web sites because they have stuff on them that the government doesn’t approve of. Funny thing about that is that according to the Guardian, 344 of those sites were apparently political and social commentary types.

Jerry Seinfeld Plugging Vista

I see that Jerry Seinfeld is now busily plugging vista. I saw him in a commercial Thursday night walking along all buddy buddy like with Bill Gates. I honestly didn’t watch much after that because I’ve never cared much about watching Seinfeld in anything.

EFF Desinger Hugh D’Andrade was recently asked to create mural-sized political cartoon at a show of experimental drawings and cartoons at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco.

The US Attorney General is proposing new guidelines that could, according to Senators Dick Durbin of Illinois, Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, the new rules would permit the FBI to use “a variety of intrusive investigative techniques with no evidence of possible wrongdoing”.

A lot of people seem to think that Obama has the best shot at winning, but there’s a CBS news article that raises some questions about that. Notably there’s seven factors that could individually or together serve to put a damper on Obama’s run for the White House.

There aren’t enough computers in our house. Granted, we’ve been blessed enough to have three desktop machines on a home LAN with enough bandwidth for all of them to be online at the same time, there is still a shortage however.

My brother sent me this little gem a few months ago and I just recently ran across it while cleaning out my inbox. It’s a sort of a commentary about just how fast we’ve gone down hill in the last 40 years. Those of us who were actually IN school in 1968 will know how true these things are.
